Originating from Italian cuisine, it’s been a staple in the American diet for decades. For many American families “Pizza night” is a Friday or Saturday routine. It’s also popular at parties.

  • According to the National Association of Pizza Operators, pepperoni is the most popular pizza topping in the United States. How popular? About 251.7-million pounds of pepperoni is consumed every year in the US. Just from pizza.
  • Roughly 350 slices of pizza are eaten each second in the US…in fact, about 13% of Americans eat pizza on any given day
  • The first pizza is thought to be invented in Naples during the early 1500s!
