Today is Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities. You can give a monetary donation to your favorite charity, give a smile to a stranger, give a hug to your barista, pick up garbage and give back to the Earth, there are so many ways to give on this day. It’s easy! There are a few organizations that I personally support and I’ll tell you why I love them.
Kiva.org is a non-profit that I’ve given to for many years. You can go to their website and give a micro-loan to help people in underdeveloped countries or people in our country! What I love about it is reading the story of the person I’m loaning to and the good that money is going to do for their family or community. It could be a loan for a milk cow to be able to sell milk at the market and bring in income for their family. It could be a loan to build a well for clean drinking water. It could be a loan to help a person begin their florist business. The opportunities to help a wide variety of people are great!
Sacramento SPCA, Elk Grove Animal Shelter and Bradshaw Animal Shelter are wonderful organizations run by many kind hearts. I’ve seen first hand their love and commitment to animals while working with them for our Wet Nose Wednesday videos.
Sacramento Comedy Spot is a wacky, fun community of people whose soul mission is to make people laugh. Laughter really is the best medicine and this group of people is supportive of each other and their community in a unique way. Their classes help build confidence, public speaking skills and quick thinking.
