Two students sit outside a Taco Bell to use Wi-Fi so they can ‘go to school’ online.
This is California, home to Silicon Valley…but where the digital divide is as deep as ever.

A photo of two girls in California doing school on the sidewalk outside a Taco Bell went viral. It turned out they didn’t have WiFi at home, so their school immediately gave them a hotspot to use. Then people found out their family was being evicted, so someone started a GoFundMe. And in one day, it raised over $115,000.
