Today’s Good News: Restaurant Owner Starts Fundraiser For Competitors



Restaurants are still suffering as the pandemic continues, but one Baltimore restaurant owner is looking out for his competitors. John Minadakis, co-owner of Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, started a GoFundMe to help other restaurants and bars. Now known as the “Famous Fund,” it’s raised nearly half a million dollars and gives up to $15-thousand to restaurants that apply and are chosen as recipients. Source: Today


A Vietnam-era veteran needs a helping hand to repair her home after a fire and she’s found one in a fellow veteran. Sue Simoneau, 65, can’t afford to rebuild her home in Wareham, Massachusetts, but Army veteran James Pooler does carpentry and is helping her out. He says working on her home is helping him feel better, too, after a rough patch with depression. Source: WCVB
