Today’s Good News: Former Foster Child Uses Birthday To Help Others

A little girl who was adopted out of foster care is turning her seventh birthday into a way to help other foster kids. Laila Burgess decided she wanted to collect clothing and basic necessities for the children who arrive in foster care with just the clothes on their backs. She’s received donations to provide about 200 bags worth of items for these kids in need. Source: WCVB


A California couple with adult children adopts seven brothers and sisters from foster care after their parents died in a car accident. Pam and Gary Willis had fostered kids before, but when she saw the story of these siblings she says, “I just knew I was supposed to be their mom.” They’ve now made the kids, ranging from 15 to four years old, a permanent part of the family and with their five biological kids, they’re now parents to 12. A toddler who gets excited every day when he sees the UPS trucks roll out of the hub near his home has become pals with the drivers he waves at. Marco Alcazar loves UPS so much, he even has his own mini uniform and UPS pajamas.
