A new store in Bradenton, Florida, called “The Twig” is helping foster care families with clothes. They give kids in foster care the chance to shop for free every month. “We wanted to create an atmosphere for kids where they feel loved,” says Nicole Britton, The Twig Director of Development. A woman’s dog became her hero when it woke her up and saved her from a fire at her Oregon home. Her two-story log home was engulfed in flames, but she managed to escape thanks to her pet. A gifted 12-year-old just graduated from high school with a 5.45 GPA. Mike Wimmer was the valedictorian at Concord Academy High School in North Carolina and a week before that, the kid graduated from community college with his AA. A teen who was paralyzed by a football injury three years ago was back on his feet at his high school graduation. Hayden Hamilton suffered a spinal injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down, but with the help of leg braces, a walker and his therapist by his side, he walked to get his diploma. A father of three from Wisconsin has reached his goal of breaking the world record for most number of push-ups done in one year. Nate Carroll not only finished more than a million and a half push-ups over the last 365 days, he raised money for the families of fallen first responders. He spent the year fundraising for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Fallen First Responder Program, which pays off mortgages for families of law enforcement officers and firefighters who are killed in the line of duty.
