Today’s Good News: Cyclist Rides Across The Country After Donating Kidney To Stranger



Mark Scotch just biked 15-hundred miles after donating a kidney to a total stranger. The 64-year-old marathon cyclist struck up a friendship with Hugh Smith, and volunteered to be his donor after finding out he was in need of a transplant. But they weren’t a match, so he donated a kidney to a stranger in Hugh’s name and Hugh received a new kidney from another donor as a result. Source: USA Today


A 12-year-old boy got the surprise of a lifetime thanks to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. They gave Dane Dawson a day he’ll never forget, filled with a scavenger hunt, a trip to the ice cream parlor, visits from the Kenosha Fire Department and police department and a wagon filled with treats. But the biggest thrill of all came when the organization gave Dane a brand new camper and camping gear. Source:

A family’s Father’s Day camping trip took a scary turn when a tree fell on their eight-year-old. Robert Sanchez suffered a broken arm, when the tree came down on their campsite at the Lieber State Recreation Area in Indiana. But his 15-year-old brother, Neithan Morales, rushed to help him, freeing Robert from heavy limbs so nothing worse happened. Source: People


A golden retriever who was missing for two weeks was found swimming in a bay in New Jersey. State troopers spotted Chunk, the swimming dog, and were able to rescue him and bring him safely back to shore. Chunk’s owners, Jim and Marie Zangara, are grateful to have him home again and say he lost 20 pounds during his adventure. Source: CBS News
