Today’s Good News: Amazon Donates Building For Affordable Housing

Amazon is stepping up to help provide more affordable housing in Arlington, Virginia. The tech giant is donating vacant land valued at $40-million to Arlington County to build more than 550 affordable units. At least 148 of them will be designated for households earning 50% or less of the area’s median income and at least 406 units will be reserved for households earning less than 80%. Source: WTOP

 

A Utah woman who left high school to help her sister’s family during World War II has finally received her diploma. Barbara Stanley went on to raise 17 kids of her own, but always regretted not getting her diploma, so her granddaughter reached out to her former school to see what they could do. Because of the extraordinary circumstances, the school just awarded the 92-year-old her diploma. Source: Fox 13 Now

Tango, a search and rescue dog, led searchers to a missing teen in South Dakota. The Pennington County Sheriff’s office got a call that a 17-year-old was missing and Tango was brought in to help officers from the U.S. Forest Service and other departments. It didn’t take this K-9 long to find the teen and they were safely reunited with their family about three hours later. Source: Inside Edition
